Deco Fun
Today wasn’t that much of a relaxed day, but after working on my M.I.T app, I decided to take a break and make some fake food out of paper clay and silicone. Good times. Anyways, I pretty much worked at my desk on a plastic folder I usually use to store classwork but never use.
My amazing workspace with all my materials, including chili covered pineapples and animu. <3(oh my.. my laptop looks like it’s going to fall off the desk! I moved it right after taking this picture.
A zoom in on the materials and what I’ve already made earlier.
I pretty much used your standard paper clay that you can grab at Micheal’s for like 3 bucks a piece or something. As you can see, I already finished some cookies and 2 macaron bases a couple days ago. It was an interesting ordeal I guess? Hahaha. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Hopefully these macaron bases I’m making today will turn out better! Anyways, I used the chalk pastels to color the clay so I don’t have to paint my pieces later. I just scrapped it using this manga inking pen that I stopped using 4 years ago or so when I learned how to ink digitally.
It’s a pretty purple isn’t it?
So I essentially mixed a lot of the purple powder with white and blue from the pastels into the clay slowly. It took like at least 15-20 minutes to turn the clay into a deep purple. The clay started to dry out many times during the process, so I needed to dip it in water to keep it super pliable. This clay always ends up drying lighter than what it looked like wet, so I just made it darker than I wanted. When I got the color I wanted, I used the measuring spoons as seen in the picture above to scoop out/shape the pieces of clay. I then used a mini mirror to flatten them out into macaron bases.
Ta-da! All done.
Finally, I cleaned up and set them to dry. This clay stick to nearly everything so I had to use corn starch to keep it from getting took sticky… But it got all over my hands! D:
What a mess!
After finishing that project, I opened the window and then took out some silicon caulk and put it into a pastry bag to make silicon whips! Then I just squeezed the silicon into whips onto a piece of wax paper. It was hell to clean out my hands and the pastry bag, as silicon isn’t water soluble. >_> I had to wipe the silicon out manually, and silicon caulk feels disgusting on your fingers haha.
The whips… + a really emo whip.
Then I got out some pink gems and decorated them.
Hooray! All done.
Then I just chillaxed for a bit after cleaning up, and then started working on this long children’s book project for World Religions. Fun.
Hope you guys liked my post! I’ll try to update more often.
