Davis day 2 and 3 + Canada day 1
Ugh. Someone killed off the rest of my camera’s battery life and I can’t find the charger. Not to mention that I’m currently in Canada, so I can’t do much about it.
Here’s a quick (not really) recap of what happened since my last post.
Anyways, the Davis regional went pretty well overall I think. On the second day, we actually had a fully working robot, though the belt fell off once and other kinks ensued. We lost many of the matches, but were lucky enough to get chosen to join the alliance under the second ranked team. I got to meet people from the Scalawags (shoot I forgot the team name) at a pizza meetup we hosted. That Woodstocks pizza is really good.
I thought they had a super thick crust but they don’t! Stop by that place if you are ever around Davis. Their desserts and their pizzas overall are really creative with the foldover crust.
Sadly, we lost in semifinals due to a close score + a penalty deduction. Oh well. I feel we did much better than last year, so I still think we won in some ways. Last year, we went to finals by sheer chance in my point of view, seeing that the robot could only run around. Seeing that the robot was essentially student designed and made, I think that next year we should be a bit more open to the mentor suggestions. I may or may not be part of the management, but yeah… This was a great learning experience and I had a lot of fun meeting and connecting with people.
We arrived back at school around 9PM. I was picked up by my cousin Sonia and Nhan, and we went out for some yummy frozen yogurt at Tartina! They have really good dark chocolate frozen yogurt and awesome condiments (lychee, mochi, mango… you name it!) It’s charged by the pound so you can try lots of flavours. I was stuffed. We went back to my house to pick up my luggage for Canada (the rest of my family is in Paris), and I stayed the night at my aunt’s house. I grudgingly woke up at 5 in the morning and went to the airport. After a bit of terminal changing and a connection, I finally arrived in Canada and was picked up by my aunt and my cousin there.
Today, I visited McGuill university with my aunt in the morning. I really like the campus and the overall feel of the area, and I’m probably going to consider applying to it. We had lunch at the mall and sorta wandered around a bit before going back to her house. It’s a bit chilly up here, but it’s not too bad. I still need to go out wearing a jacket, but that’s expected. According to her, I’m going to see some family tomorrow. I’ll go over the details then!
Anyways, after we went back, I finally fixed my internet problems and downloaded some anime. Have you seen the end of Kuroshitsuji? It’s pretty open ended and not very clear… I wanna see Sebastian’s true form though. Oh well… I’ll get to see it eventually in the manga. I didn’t personally like that ending, since they don’t really explain everything. Seeing that Ciel is about to get his soul sucked out by Sebastian, I’m assuming that they aren’t going to have a sequel, though I’m right now being driven nuts about the fates of the other charas. Oh well…. As for Clannad, it was just a recap story, so there wasn’t anything that interesting since I still remember the whole story. Tales of the Abyss has one epi to go! Asch dies…. And his fonoms go to Luke (will Luke be saved? I wonder…. -_-) Enough rantage about anime! I need to go take a shower and go to sleep. xD
(looking back on this post, I seriously need a life)
This post is going to be most images. Sorry! That means cut time. 8D
We spent forever just figuring out what to draw and how to decorate the pictures, but I love how it turned out. I really should do more purikura photoshop edits.
Everyone was really nice we had a bunch of hilarious conversations. When everyone was tired of skating, we went up and did some Purikura. I don’t have the scans of the pics yet, but I’ll put them up once I get them.We also stopped by Claire’s which was nearby and I got a 2 dollar pink heart purse! It’s really cute and I’ll take a picture of it later.
