Davis day 2 and 3 + Canada day 1

Ugh. Someone killed off the rest of my camera’s battery life and I can’t find the charger. Not to mention that I’m currently in Canada, so I can’t do much about it.

Here’s a quick (not really) recap of what happened since my last post.

Anyways, the Davis regional went pretty well overall I think. On the second day, we actually had a fully working robot, though the belt fell off once and other kinks ensued. We lost many of the matches, but were lucky enough to get chosen to join the alliance under the second ranked team. I got to meet people from the Scalawags (shoot I forgot the team name) at a pizza meetup we hosted. That Woodstocks pizza is really good. :D I thought they had a super thick crust but they don’t! Stop by that place if you are ever around Davis. Their desserts and their pizzas overall are really creative with the foldover crust.

Sadly, we lost in semifinals due to a close score + a penalty deduction. Oh well. I feel we did much better than last year, so I still think we won in some ways. Last year, we went to finals by sheer chance in my point of view, seeing that the robot could only run around. Seeing that the robot was essentially student designed and made, I think that next year we should be a bit more open to the mentor suggestions. I may or may not be part of the management, but yeah… This was a great learning experience and I had a lot of fun meeting and connecting with people.

We arrived back at school around 9PM. I was picked up by my cousin Sonia and Nhan, and we went out for some yummy frozen yogurt at Tartina! They have really good dark chocolate frozen yogurt and awesome condiments (lychee, mochi, mango… you name it!) It’s charged by the pound so you can try lots of flavours. I was stuffed. We went back to my house to pick up my luggage for Canada (the rest of my family is in Paris), and I stayed the night at my aunt’s house. I grudgingly woke up at 5 in the morning and went to the airport. After a bit of terminal changing and a connection, I finally arrived in Canada and was picked up by my aunt and my cousin there.

Today, I visited McGuill university with my aunt in the morning. I really like the campus and the overall feel of the area, and I’m probably going to consider applying to it. We had lunch at the mall and sorta wandered around a bit before going back to her house. It’s a bit chilly up here, but it’s not too bad. I still need to go out wearing a jacket, but that’s expected. According to her, I’m going to see some family tomorrow. I’ll go over the details then!

Anyways, after we went back, I finally fixed my internet problems and downloaded some anime. Have you seen the end of Kuroshitsuji? It’s pretty open ended and not very clear… I wanna see Sebastian’s true form though. Oh well… I’ll get to see it eventually in the manga. I didn’t personally like that ending, since they don’t really explain everything. Seeing that Ciel is about to get his soul sucked out by Sebastian, I’m assuming that they aren’t going to have a sequel, though I’m right now being driven nuts about the fates of the other charas. Oh well…. As for Clannad, it was just a recap story, so there wasn’t anything that interesting since I still remember the whole story. Tales of the Abyss has one epi to go! Asch dies…. And his fonoms go to Luke (will Luke be saved? I wonder…. -_-) Enough rantage about anime! I need to go take a shower and go to sleep. xD

(looking back on this post, I seriously need a life)

Robotics UC Davis Regional day 1

Hehehe. It’s been a day since I arrived at Davis. First day was pretty low key, with us installing the new bucket onto the robot and people having practice matches. We didn’t go into the practice matches till the last one, and there were a couple kinks with the code and mech. E-team was chilling out though. Me and couple friends just did some scouting.. I think I overdid it by drawing their designs… ohwell.

heyladiesThis post is going to be most images. Sorry! That means cut time. 8D

xD Anyways, the beauty for robot obsessed nerds.

T minus 2 days till I leave for the Robotics regional. Yay? I guess. It’s sorta messing me up though. Yeah I’m excited, but then that means a lot of work to catch up. I need to take a quiz in advance and miss out on some school (Noes! i miss the dissection) . Not to mention that I’ll be running off to Canada right after. This spring break is going to be busy.

I’m running out of ideas, so I’ll finish off this post.

Bah Bio

No… Not really. Today was a really quiet day, seeing that teachers sorta toned down the amount of HW I had to do, though I still have to finish some bio HW. *woops* This is a *technically* a double post, but since the last post was on yesterday, I might as well write a couple words about today. Overall, I was just lazing around on my computer.

However, yesterday, this magical package came to me from Fry’s. It was my 4 gigabyte RAM upgrade *squee* I turned off my computer, waiting for ten minutes, and stuck those suckers in. I’ve never had a computer run so fast in so long, so I’ve been hysterically happy about how I can run multiple adobe programs on my computer. (I’m such a nerd) That’s actually the main reason why I was able to finish the layout of this website in a couple of hours.

I don’t know why, but for some reason I was really hungry today. My mom made soba with stir fried beef, and for dessert she had the creative idea of making green tea pot-au-crème. It was really good, and too bad I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of those adorable ramekins. >w< For dinner, we had our usual pho, but I ate like two bowls. *I should burn off those extra calories tomorrow.*

Also, one of the people that came to the meetup finally posted the purikura set we took!

061We spent forever just figuring out what to draw and how to decorate the pictures, but I love how it turned out. I really should do more purikura photoshop edits.

Overall, I think today was just an awesome relaxation day. I got to watch Tales of the Abyss episode 23 (why did GG have to drop it though? Oh well…) and I think the series is getting close to the end. Eh… Luke is probably going to be saved even though he’s supposed to die soon. That’s the one thing I hate about anime: predictable plotlines.

First Lolita Meetup!

Yesterday, I finally went to my first lolita meetup! I decided to dress up in Angelic Pretty Yumemiru Macaron. I went with 2 of my friends. They picked me up and we sped up Saratoga Avenue to Vallco.

We met at the Vallco Ice center. It was pretty crowded yesterday, and a lot of people wouldn’t stop asking us why we were wearing dresses. It was pretty cute when these little girls asked us. We all answered that we were doing it since we felt like it. Anyways, I haven’t ice skated in years so I had a bumpy start on the ice, especially since it seemed that it hadn’t been groomed in hours! However, even though most of the people there hadn’t skated in awhile also, we only had a couple of falls, mostly due to speed or having to stop since a child suddenly skidded in in front of us. Suprisingly, I didn’t fall at all, which was quite a surprised.

I didn’t bring a camera with me, but the organizer did. Here’s the group picture of all of us on the ice:

Group pic on iceEveryone was really nice we had a bunch of hilarious conversations. When everyone was tired of skating, we went up and did some Purikura. I don’t have the scans of the pics yet, but I’ll put them up once I get them.We also stopped by Claire’s which was nearby and I got a 2 dollar pink heart purse! It’s really cute and I’ll take a picture of it later.

I ended up having to leave early since one of my friends needed to go home to do HW. From what I heard, the group that remaind ended up going for Chinese food and desserts without us. As for me and my friends, we stopped by In-N-Out before going home. Yum! I had a great time and it was an amazing stress reliever off Junior year. I can’t wait till the next meetup!
