Musical Mania and the like

I didn’t have that many things worth mentioning about till this week, which was the week of our spring musical. I took quite a bit of pictures… Okay, not *that* many, but enough to get me wondering which pictures I should put up on my blog. Here are a couple to highlight my very very busy week. I didn’t have dinner at home all week till around Friday. I ended up staying at school longer than at home, but it was totally worth it! (Not to mention that my teachers were kind enough to give me very little HW) Oh and by the way, this year’s musical was the Music Man. We supposedly had the largest cast ever to stand on this stage, hence causing quite a bit of chaos.

Anyways, I wasn’t onstage, but I was actually teching (AKA doing the backstage magic!) of the show. I personally enjoy doing backstage stuff due to less time constraints and more fun. I was follow spot operator, so I was essentially playing the role of a god shining light upon the citizens of the play. It was a fun job, but since I was up in the back of the room on the booth, it got pretty hot. But, in exchange for my comfort, I got a great view of the stage!

Like I said, I *DO* get the best seat in the house. Anyways, the show tends to be mostly/partially student run in the backend with a student standing in as stage manager. Of course, Mr. Larsen, the official school tech guy, runs sound board for obvious reasons, and we have a professional light person program the lights (yes.. lights nowadays have their changes programmed, or else it would take way too long to change them.). However, the person who does the qeueing during the show is a student also. This year’s set was pretty heavy, so all of deck crew was pretty brawny-ish. Of course, my friend Christophe was shifted from props, to deck, and then finally settled in costumes, where he learned to use a sewing machine. He still did an amazing job there and I totally admire how he spent literally hours sewing patches and helping mend and make some of the costumes. The costumes the cast had were actually authentic (thus old), and many of them ripped and needed to be fixed. Of course, the costume manager Kayla started charging people for mistreating their costumes (seeing that a pair of pants is literally 1k dollars! Can you believe it?!)

My Friend Erica managed the mics, and also started to charge people since they forgot to give her their mics. I heard she only made $4 out of it though. The costume crew made a ton of money by charging people for losing their costumes or leaving them on the ground.

Overall, I loved the show, since it was actually my first musical live. Even though everybody was tired Saturday night, we were all happy. Too bad I didn’t have a chance to go to the cast party (needed to study for math). The set made by Mr. Vallerga (the official theatre carpenter teacher guy. He’s awesome!) based on the theme colours red, white, and blue (obviously referencing to the American spirit). The costumes were also based off the same colour scheme. We had a couple of kinks here and there, but overall, I’m sure we did a great job. The audience got most of the jokes, and even though my parents told me that there were some calrity problems, I personally had no problem understanding what was going on from the back. The singing was great, and my mom was impressed that they learned all of it in only about 2 months (don’t forget we’re students)! I loved teching so much that I’m probably going to sign up for lights or something during Fall play.

Of course, even though ourfour shows ran mostly withotu problems, one of the actors tripped and hurt his leg. John was even one of the dancers, and he could barely walk. However, he still went forth of the romance dance scene as if nothing had happened. He’s a true performer!

Anyways, enough talking. I’ll post some pictures of the show itself tomorrow.

My head hurts

Obviously home from Canada. The trip was fun overall and I got to meet a lot of family and also eat quite a bit. I can’t wait to see them again, and I’m probably going to apply to McGuill since I love its atmosphere and the campus overall. It seems like an awesome place to go. :D

Anyways, while I was gone, my dad got my brothers a DS (*jealous* Okay not really). I’ve essentially stolen it from them and am playing the World Ends With You. It’s a pretty epic game and I recommend it to anybody with a DS. It’s pretty fast paced too, which is exactly what I like. I shouldn’t be staying up late playing it though. >_>;

Ugh… Though all this fun stuff is happening, it’s back to studying. I’m studying for the pseudo-final for my AP calc class. @_@ It’s pretty intense, since I sorta ended up realizing how many things I misunderstood (that explains my test scores). I’ll be getting back to it as soon as I finished this post actually.

ALSO! I got Miracle candy! *squee* It’s a really cute print, though it’s pretty tight on me mostly due to my bust size, which is on the cusp and rib cage width, which I can’t really change, though theĀ  only reason why that measurements is bothering is since my bust makes the JSK slide up, turning it into a high waist JSK. Oh my… I just went to the AP shop site to check measurements and then I saw the cherry bunny just got released on the English site. I wasn’t surprised that it was all sold out. xD Though.. it seems that the waist for skirt is actually max 32 inches! That’s new. Okay.. enough rambling. Here’s a really LQ picture of me wearing it with the bunny cutsew I just got too. ^^; I just need the socks and I’ll finish my coordinate… (mostly). I can’t wait to wear it to school.

(Yup… That table (not my room) is a MESS + college books + boxes >_> )Isn’t the print adorable? Anyways, my head hurts a ton and I need to get back to derivatives and integrals.
